Donor's Choose

Good morning!
I am so excited to share that we had our Donor's Choose project for a digital camera fully funded this morning! I cannot thank the donors enough for being so generous and supportive. We should receive the camera in a week or so. Students will be able to enhance projects, share in what they are doing in class, learn to take good quality photographs and even photograph school events. This is a great and exciting tool for students.

Be sure to check back often to see our camera at work!
Thanks again for all your support!!!

Happy snapping!

April

Greetings families!!

Starting next week, students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will be working on a research project about computers and technology in different careers. Students will work in pairs to research how computers and technology are used in different career fields as well as how they have impacted the chosen career field. Students will use Google Docs and Google Slides to display their work. Be sure to ask your student about what career field they chose.

So far, students have chosen very exciting career fields. I am looking forward to learning about all the different careers!

Happy Researching!

Donors Choose

Greetings families!

Hope you had a wonderful Spring Break!!!  Mine took an unexpected turn but I still enjoyed the time with my family.

Unfortunately, our Donors Choose project for the new digital camera did not get fully funded. I am trying again with a different camera to see if perhaps we can get fully funded. Any help you can offer would be great. A great way to help is to spread the word. The link for the project is below.

Thank you for all your help and support!!

We are so close to having our Donor's Choose project fully funded. Right now, all donations are being matched. We only have 11 days left before the project expires. We are trying to purchase a DSLR camera, case, and memory card to be used by students in teh computer lab. The camera will also be used to photograph school events and classroom activities. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!!!

My classroom project expires soon and you can help!

Hi Families and students,
I want to make sure my students at Fork Shoals School have the materials they need to succeed, so I created a request for my classroom at DonorsChoose.org:
My project only has 30 days to go and we need your support. I am on my way to reaching full funding, but I have a ways to go. If you chip in to help my students, you'll get awesome photos and our heartfelt thanks.
Thanks so much,
Ms. Shepherd
P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help my classroom, please pass this along!

Cards for Kids

Students in grades 1-5 participated in Cards for Kids last week. Students made Valentine's Cards for children at the Children's Hospital in Greenville. Cards were delivered to Magic 98.9 radio station who headed up the program and delivered the cards to the children.

Email

This week in computer lab students in 3rd-5th grade will practice using their student email. We will discuss how to access the student email and the proper way to use email. Students can access their email at home, as well. Student email is accessed through Google.
Please talk to your child about proper email etiquette as well as being safe while using email. We will discuss proper email usage as well as email safety but this is something you should discuss with your child, as well. Please remind them that while their name is on the account, the school and school district can access the email at any time. And school email is for school use,
The following can be found on the log in page of student email:

Upon acceptance of your Greenville County email account, you agreed to the following terms and conditions:

I will not use email to bully, harass, or threaten other students or individuals.

I will not use email to send chain letters, viruses, or hoaxes to other students or faculty.

I understand that email is provided to me by the district and is district property. The district reserves the right to access a student's email account at any time if misuse is suspected.

I understand that my email account is filtered and that any message written that contains inappropriate language or content will not be delivered.

January

Good afternoon,
This month, students will continue to practice typing. We will be working with several different websites to learn the proper way to type. Students can use these websites at home to practice, as well. The links to the sites are below. The best way to learn to type efficiently and properly is to practice. And in the world we live in, being able to type is a must. So practice, practice practice.

HAPPY TYPING!

Below you will find the link to my Donor's Choose site. I am trying to raise enough funds to purchase a digital camera, memory cards, and a case for the camera. Students in all grade levels would benefit from the use of this camera. If you are able to help in any way, I would greatly appreciate it.

THANK YOU!!!!
